For over 70 years the 1945 Waagmeester team has been designing and creating the highest quality, custom canvas and fabric pieces for customers across the United States and around the world.
Originally focused on the sailing and maritime industries, the sail making and industrial sewing skills and knowledge of founder Bud Waagmeester soon translated into creating a varied and unique product line. Today, Waagmeester Industrial Canvas offers a wide array of products as diverse as the customers we serve. We design and create custom pieces for both residential and commercial customers. Our products are used across the world in homes and businesses, vehicles and boats, single story buildings to sky scrapers, in malls and shopping centers, in films and television both in front of and behind the camera and more.

In February of 2017 we relocated from our original Portland, Oregon location to our new, state of the art facility in Wilsonville, Oregon. With our founding in 1945, Bud Waagmeester opened up shop at 12th and Alberta Street in Portland. For over 70 years the Waagmeester family business continued to operate at our original Alberta Street. location. As we grew we required more and more space and in time we’d incorporated the buildings around us to the point where our shop encompassed the entire city block. Alberta Street also transformed over the years becoming a hub for Portland’s now well known culture of restaurants, pubs and shops. Having reached the maximum capacity on that city block, we decided a larger, single facility would better suit our business and allow us to better serve our customers. We moved from a 9,000 square foot location into our new 15,000 square foot Wilsonville facility. With nearly double the size and a single building to work in, the new Waagmeester shop is a key factor in our ability to provide the very best levels of service and highest quality products to our customers throughout the United States and globally.

ABOUT WAAGMEESTER INDUSTRIAL CANVAS
W.H. “Bud” Waagmeester founded Waagmeester Canvas Products in 1945 after serving in the United States Navy. There Bud learned the craft of sail making and sought to turn his skills in to a family business. Now over 70 years later, Waagmeester is in its third generation of family ownership. Bud’s sons Steve and Dale stepped into the family business at a young age back when Waagmeester Canvas Products was located on Alberta St. in Portland, Oregon. Bud’s grandson Erik joined the team over 30 years ago, making Waagmeester a family owned and operated business for nearly three quarters of a century.
